Buying a new car in Turkey is expensive. Special consumption tax (ÖTV), VAT and annual motor vehicle tax (MTV) push prices well above those in much of Europe, and high inflation makes long financing commitments risky. That has made monthly car rental (aylık araç kiralama) and, more recently, true subscriptions (araç abonelik) an attractive way to drive a newer car without tying up capital.
