About Audi

Audi was founded by engineer August Horch in 1909, after he left the earlier company that bore his own surname. In 1932 it merged with Horch, DKW and Wanderer to form Auto Union, which is where the four interlocking rings come from. After the Second World War the business was rebuilt in Ingolstadt and came under Volkswagen control in the mid-1960s, with the Audi name revived for its cars. Its slogan Vorsprung durch Technik, meaning progress through technology, has been used in British advertising since the early 1980s.

The brand built its modern reputation on engineering, notably the quattro four-wheel-drive system that made its name in rallying in the early 1980s. Today Audi is one of Germany's three main premium manufacturers, offering everything from compact hatchbacks such as the A3 to large SUVs. Its e-tron models, including the Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and e-tron GT, form a growing electric range alongside conventional and plug-in hybrid cars.

Audi on a car subscription

Audi is a common choice for drivers who want a premium badge without committing to a three- or four-year finance deal. A subscription is also a practical way to try an e-tron model before buying, and electric Audis can be attractive for company car drivers because of low Benefit-in-Kind rates. Check the annual mileage allowance, the insurance excess on higher-performance S and RS versions, and the real-world range and charging speed of any electric model against your regular journeys.

Audi subscriptions: FAQs

Can I get an Audi on a car subscription in the UK?

Yes. Audi models are widely offered by UK subscription and short-term lease providers, typically on terms from one month to a couple of years. Exact models, trims and lead times vary between providers and change regularly, so compare current listings.

Which electric Audis can I subscribe to?

Electric options usually come from the e-tron range, such as the Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, A6 e-tron and e-tron GT. Availability depends on each provider's fleet, and newer models may take time to appear on subscription.

Is insurance included on an Audi subscription?

Many subscriptions include insurance, but it is worth checking the policy excess, any age or driving-history requirements, and whether performance models such as RS versions carry stricter terms or a higher deposit.
