About Skoda
Skoda's story begins in 1895, when Václav Laurin and Václav Klement started making bicycles in Mladá Boleslav, in what is now the Czech Republic. They moved on to motorcycles and then cars, and in 1925 merged with the industrial group Škoda Works, which gave the brand its name. The winged arrow logo dates from the 1920s.
After decades under state control, Skoda joined the Volkswagen Group in 1991, gaining access to modern platforms and engineering. That transformed its reputation, and it is now known for spacious, well-priced cars such as the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq. Skoda's electric range has grown quickly: the Enyaq and Elroq SUVs are joined by newer additions such as the smaller Epiq, while the Fabia, Scala, Kamiq and Karoq continue with petrol power. Its cars are often praised for clever practical touches, such as an umbrella stored in the door and an ice scraper in the fuel filler cap.
Skoda on a car subscription
Skoda is a strong subscription option for drivers who want space and practicality without paying for a premium badge. Estate versions of the Octavia and Superb suit families and business users, while the Enyaq and Elroq are a straightforward way to try an electric SUV, with the low Benefit-in-Kind rates that EVs offer company car drivers. Check the mileage allowance, the size of the deposit and the real-world range of electric models if you drive long distances.
