About Nissan

Nissan's origins lie in the DAT car of 1914 and the Datsun brand, and the company took the Nissan name in 1933-34. Datsun-badged cars became widely known in export markets, including the UK, before the Nissan name was adopted globally in the 1980s. The company also has an important technical centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.

Nissan opened its Sunderland plant in 1986, which grew into one of the UK's largest car factories. It formed an alliance with Renault in 1999 and launched the Leaf in 2010, one of the first mass-market electric cars. The Qashqai, launched in 2007, helped popularise the crossover SUV and remains one of the UK's best-selling cars. Today Nissan builds the Qashqai, Juke and new Leaf in Sunderland, and also offers the X-Trail, the Ariya and an electric Micra. A large battery plant alongside the Sunderland factory supplies cells for its electric models.

Nissan on a car subscription

Nissan is a practical subscription option for drivers who want a familiar crossover such as the Qashqai or Juke, or who want to try an EV like the Leaf, Micra or Ariya. Electric models carry low Benefit-in-Kind tax for company car users. The e-Power hybrid system in the Qashqai and X-Trail suits those who cannot charge at home. Check the real-world range of electric models, the mileage allowance and what servicing is included.
